The Digital Font "Sindbad"

The computer font "Sindbad" created by Georg Popp was awarded 1st prize in the 2nd International Type Design Contest (1997) sponsored by the computer design magazine PAGE and the LINOTYPE Library, in the category symbol fonts. He converted Omani and Arabic design elements into a computer font.

Jury member Adrian Frutiger about "Sindbad" in the journal PAGE 06/97:

"The Sindbad font can be likened to a game with great shapes which can be combined in turn to create nice designs, or used for making lists, and so on, but images can be combined and -- like a piece of embroidery -- suddenly form exquisite ornamentation."
