This results in their unique culture, which goes back to the frankincense route, Sinbad the Sailor and trade with Africa and China. Internationality has been lived here for thousands of years. The airspace over Oman was closed only during the early days of the conflict. Due to its neutral stance as a mediator in the Middle East and the fact that there are no American or British military bases in Oman, the Sultanate itself is not a target of Iranian attacks. Nor is this expected to change in the future.
