The capital region of Muscat has the widest range of hotels. The standard ranges from the renowned luxury hotel on its own beach to the simple harbour hotel in Muttrah.
As the city of Muscat stretches for around 70 kilometres along the coast, the location of the hotel also determines how much time and effort you need to plan for sightseeing. Only a few hotels are located in such a way that you can walk out the door in the evening. Crossing the city during rush hour traffic can easily take an hour.
The nightlife in Muscat is still rather modest and is limited to the performances at the Royal Opera House, some cinemas and the bars & nightclubs at the 5* hotels.
