This striking 198-room deluxe hotel is nestled between the Shangri La Al Husn Resort & Spa and the adjoining Shangri La Al Waha on a rocky bay with 450-meter-long sandy beach. The decor of the rooms is traditional Omani.
Fortunately, the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, Al Bandar is decorated with works by Omani artists and is thus also a museum of Omani contemporary art. A catalog raisonné can be found in the book "The Art of Barr Al Jissah" available at the reception or in the Bait al Zubair Museum in Muscat.
In 19 different restaurants you can choose specialties from South America, Italy, Spain, Morocco and of course Oman. From a casual family restaurant to fast food and elegant dinners, everything is on offer. A seafood restaurant on the beach completes the offer.
Also the sports and fitness enthusiasts are catered to, with a fitness center, 4 tennis courts, beach volleyball, diving school, water aerobics, windsurfing, boat rental, 3 swimming pools (two of which are connected by a 250 meter long "Lazy River"), direct beach access.
In Shangri-La's own "Chi-Spa" you can be pampered in one of the 12 treatment rooms by the trained staff as well as with sauna, steam bath, whirlpool.
The complex also includes an amphitheater and a souk with numerous shops. Between the 3 hotels is the "Piazza", where you can stroll comfortably and visit shops and restaurants.
The historic districts of Muscat main bus station are approximately 20 minutes away by car. To reach the Royal Opera House and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque you have to expect about 50 minutes' drive.
