You can talk, think and theorise about tolerance as much as you like, but you can only experience it in person. Director Wolfgang Ettlich made this experience the method of his cinematic approach to the Islamic culture of Oman.
The viewer accompanies the team on a journey through everyday life in modern Oman, gaining an insight into many aspects of society that otherwise remain hidden to Western visitors. The director is accompanied on his journey by a German-speaking Omani who repeatedly informs him about the background and introduces him to the basic tenets of the Islamic religion.
Islam is the state religion in Oman, is omnipresent and is supported by the faithful and the state. Other religious communities are also supported by the state and generally tolerated. The film gives an insight into the diverse religious life in Oman.
