In addition to the fortresses, a large number of interesting museums have been established in Oman over the last 10 years, which showcase the country's culture - but also its natural treasures and special aspects of the sultanate's history with a particular focus. In addition to these themed museums, private art galleries and privately run "living" museums have also been established in renovated old mud houses.
The most important museums are the National Museum and the Bait Al Zubair Museum in Muscat, the Oman Across Ages Museum in Manah near Nizwa in the interior of the country and the Museum of the Frankincense Land in Salalah in Südoman.
