Georg Popp

The artist and photographer Georg Popp has been dealing with the Sultanate of Oman and its people in a very intensive and personal way for over 30 years. Through his friendship with Omani Juma Al-Maskari, which dates back to his student days, he has gained intensive insights into the Sultanate of Oman over the years.

Since 1992, the Sultanate of Oman has been the focus of Georg Popp's work with artistic works, publications, exhibitions and projects.

To give his various activities a common umbrella, he founded ARABIA FELIX Synform GmbH in 1999, of which he is the managing director. In cooperation with Omani companies in the tourism sector, ARABIA FELIX has also been active as a specialist tour operator for Oman since 2001.

He has published several articles and books about the Sultanate, including the first comprehensive German-language travel guide about the country, which is now in its 9th edition and was first published in English in 2010.

Since 2001, he has produced various travelling exhibitions about Oman in collaboration with Omani ministries, which can be seen in over 37 countries worldwide.

He has advised various journalists and film projects and has worked on documentaries on a wide range of topics related to Oman.

From 2001 to 2009, he was a member of the Cultural Advisory Board of the German-Omani Society and was Secretary General of this official bilateral organisation from 2009 to the end of 2018.
