Oman's Botanical Garden – the whole world of plants in the Sultanate

The Oman Botanic Garden in Al Khod, around 20 kilometres from the capital Muscat, is being built on an area of 430 hectares. It is a project of the Diwan of Royal Court in Oman. The garden is currently under construction and is not expected to be open to the public until 2025.

It features all of Oman's 1,407 native plant species in a series of carefully designed, naturalistic habitats: from the arid desert to the rich monsoon cloud forests. The garden also features traditionally cultivated plants. With this concept, the Oman Botanic Garden is unique worldwide and of global importance - no other botanic garden represents the entire flora of a country in its specific habitats.

The Botanic Garden offers visitors not only an unrivalled opportunity to experience all the vegetation of the Sultanate of Oman, but also to learn about the country's agricultural heritage, rich cultural traditions and legendary hospitality.

Environmental education is at the heart of the garden and one of its key functions. The garden protects Oman's plant diversity through botanical and horticultural research and conservation.
