Requirements:
Willingness to sacrifice comfort, surefootedness, a head for heights and good fitness for longer high-alpine hikes with short climbing passages. Luggage is transported by wagon so that everyone only carries their daily luggage.
Mobility advice:

Evening departure from Frankfurt (Munich on request) to Muscat, where we arrive the next morning. Transfer to the hotel, which is located directly at the souq of Mutrah. After a short break, we set off on our first walk around Mutrah. As soon as we leave the lively promenade, we feel as if we have been transported to another world. The hike ends at the souq in Mutrah, where we take a leisurely stroll.
From Mutrah, we first drive to the Grand Mosque, which is one of the few Omani prayer centres that non-Muslims are allowed to enter. We then take the motorway to the southern foothills of the Jebel Akhdar massif, where we visit the Birkat al-Mauz oasis. A steep mountain road takes us up to 2000 metres above sea level, where we reach small villages where the roses for the famous rose water are grown in the fields. We hike for just under two hours along the terraced fields and irrigation channels (approx. 150 metres up and down). Tent overnight stay on the high plateau. Two day hikes in the mountain massif of Jebel Akhdar take us through mountain villages, to palm oases and irrigation channels, where we can always enjoy fantastic views. Both nights are in the tent. First we walk from Manakhir to Qarn Wukan on the ridge of the pass to the Wadi Mistal, from where we enjoy the overwhelming view of the valleys leading down from the plateau (approx. 6 hours, approx. 700 metres ascent, approx. 550 metres descent). The next morning we hike from Ar-Ruus first over a high plateau with juniper trees, then down to Qiyut, a small mountain village, where the carts pick us up (approx. 5-6 hours, approx. 900 metres ascent, 700 metres descent).
We cross a 2000 metre high pass by car and reach the Wadi Bani Awf on the north side. We hike from Hat through the extensive mountain oasis of Balad Seet, before continuing along the mountain flank to the small village of Selma and on to Bimah (total walking time around 5 hours, approx. 600 metres up and down). We spend the night in a guesthouse, which is comparable to a mountain hut (shared room).
The next day is one of the most strenuous, but also the most beautiful of the tour: we hike up a narrow and steep path from Balad Seet to the ridge. This old nomadic path offers spectacular views, but also exposed sections and climbing passages. We spend the night in our tents near the mountain oasis of Misfat al-Ibriyeen (approx. 7 hours, 1300 metres ascent, 250 metres descent).
The following day we take it a little easier. We hike from the camp to Misfat al-Ibriyeen and soon reach the palm oasis with its lush green gardens. The hike (3-4 hours in total, 450 metres up and down) continues through a canyon to far above the village, from where we have a wide view. The return route to the camp leads directly through the old idyllic village centre and we have time to explore this oasis of traditional buildings at length. We camp at the same place again.
In the morning, a pleasant one-hour drive takes us to Nizwa, the old capital of Oman. We stroll through the souq and visit the fort with its mighty round tower. In the afternoon we head to the east of the country, where we pitch our tents in the dunes of the Wahiba sand desert. We spend the next day completely in the desert. We walk through the sand dunes. In the morning we cover a longer stage (approx. 3 hours), in the afternoon after an extensive lunch break a shorter one, before we reach our desert camp, where we spend the night (fixed tents with bathroom).
A short drive takes us to Wadi Bani Khalid. However, we don't hike in the well-known (and relatively crowded) upper part of the wadi, but walk down it. We walk for about five to six hours through a fantastic landscape and also have to cover smaller sections by swimming (up to 300 metres). In the afternoon we continue to Sur, where we stay in a hotel right by the sea. In the morning we explore the harbour town of Sur. A little further west we reach the Wadi Shab, into which we can hike a little way and even take a dip in a rock pool (walking time about 3 hours, 100 metres up and down each way). We set up our tents right by the sea.
In the morning, you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight to Germany. Alternatively, you can of course extend your stay in Muscat or Salalah.
