After a 15-minute drive from Nizwa towards Salalah, you will reach the new Oman Across Ages Museum, the largest in the country, in Manah (a little south of the town centre). Fascinatingly designed in terms of architecture and presentation, the Oman Across Ages Museum opened in March 2023. In 2024, the museum was honoured by UNESCO with the prestigious Versailles Award as the "World's Most Beautiful Museum for 2024". Vivid, interactive and well-designed multimedia displays provide an overview of the country's history from prehistoric times to the present day, seafaring, trade, society, art and culture as well as the economy. A large section is dedicated to the "Renaissance", which refers to the social and economic upswing that Sultan Qaboos (reign 1970 to 2020) achieved for his country. Also highly recommended for families with children, barrier-free. Open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, Fridays only in the afternoon.
