Strolling in Al Mouj (The Wave)

The Al Mouj (The Wave) development area is being built to the north of the airport and marina harbour. With its expensive flats, hotels and boutiques, it forms a stark contrast to the alleyways of the old souqs. When strolling through the pedestrianised area of The Walk" with its restaurants, cafés and boutiques in the evening, you will be amazed at the elegance with which the Omani ladies float along the promenade in flowing gowns and high heels to match the modern ambience. Children use the smooth ground for inline skating or scooter riding. In Al Mouj you can (of course) also play golf and drop your yacht at anchor, because this is clearly where rich and poor meet. Excursion boats, sailing and diving centres can be found at the marina.

If you think about the souq of Seeb, which is only a few kilometres away, you can see how Oman has developed over the last 40 years. Nevertheless, there are no skyscrapers, even though Emirati investors have made a significant contribution to the development of the neighbourhood. There is a public beach, which is mainly used by expats, and there are now numerous hotels.
