The Ras al Jinz Scientific and Visitor Center is a modern building constructed directly at the entrance to the bay of the Ras al Jinz Turtle Reserve.
The Ras al Jinz Scientific and Visitor Center controls access to the beach, so that visitors can no longer enter the beach without supervision. Without a guided tour, access is permitted only between 8:00 a.m. and early afternoon.
Twice a night (at 9:00 p.m. and around 4:00 a.m.), guided tours in English are conducted on the beach. During these tours, you’ll receive an introduction to the importance of the reserve and the life cycle of sea turtles.
The guided tour requires a roughly three-quarter-hour hike along unpaved trails through the terrain (sand, rocks, low brush).
Staying overnight in one of the 14 modernly equipped rooms guarantees the opportunity to participate in one of the guided tours, for which a limited number of spots are also available to book by guests from outside the area.
There is no guarantee that sea turtles will be seen, especially in December and January. Photographing the sea turtles in the dark is strictly prohibited. Bringing small children on these guided tours is not recommended, as visitors must remain quiet.
The building houses a sea turtle museum, a souvenir shop, and a restaurant.
The modern rooms—which are almost windowless to protect the turtles—feature air conditioning, a minibar, a TV, and Wi-Fi.
The dinner and breakfast buffets offer a selection of Asian and European dishes.
